KONSORTIUM HOSPITAL UNIVERSITI AWAM MALAYSIA (KHUAM)

About KHUAM

The Konsortium Hospital Universiti Awam Malaysia (KHUAM) was officially established several years ago through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement by five public university hospitals in Malaysia. In the years that followed, six additional public universities joined, reinforcing their commitment to this strategic collaboration.

The KHUAM aims to create a structured and integrated framework for the governance and operation of public university teaching hospitals. In addition to fostering strategic partnerships and institutional networking, KHUAM provides an official platform for the exchange of ideas, experiences, and best practices. This initiative is instrumental in elevating the collective performance and global competitiveness of university hospitals in Malaysia.

The KHUAM Symposium 2025 arrives at a defining moment in the evolution of global healthcare. As digital technologies rapidly reshape the world around us, the healthcare sector is experiencing a profound transformation one that promises to enhance patient care, strengthen clinical decision-making, and improve the delivery of services across every level of the system.

Hospital Sultan Zainal Abidin (HoSZA), Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA), has been chosen to host the 7th National Conference of Academic Medical Centres, themed “Revolutionizing Healthcare Through Digital Transformation: Innovations, Challenges and Opportunities.”. This year’s theme highlights the pressing need and vast potential for digital transformation within the healthcare sector. We now stand at a critical juncture where cutting-edge technologies—such as artificial intelligence, big data analytics, telemedicine, robotics, and smart systems—are no longer distant possibilities, but are actively redefining the landscape of modern healthcare delivery.

The conference is scheduled to take place on October 5th – 6th, 2025, at Primula Hotel, Kuala Terengganu, Terengganu. It is estimated that around 400 participants from various professional backgrounds will attend this conference, contributing to its success.

The KHUAM 7th National Conference 2025

Revolutionizing Healthcare Through Digital Transformation: Innovations, Challenges and Opportunities

Since the establishment of KHUAM, the National Academic Conference has served as a platform for meetings between university teaching hospitals, Ministry of Health hospitals, private hospitals, and related agencies to discuss healthcare matters and provide opportunities for participants to enhance their knowledge within the context of new norms in the country’s medical and healthcare system.

Konsortium Hospital Universiti Awam Malaysia (KHUAM) is seen as an opportunity for the rebranding of University Teaching Hospitals and providing benefits in exploring new areas such as health tourism, resource sharing, patient data alignment, and expertise enhancement.

The 7th National Conference of the Consortium of Public University Hospitals in Malaysia (KHUAM) will be held from 4th-6th October 2025, organise by Hospital Sultan Zainal Abidin (HoSZA), UniSZA at Primula Beach Hotel.

The formation of KHUAM was driven by the need for a more systematic and integrated approach to managing public university teaching hospitals. Rather than operating in silos, KHUAM brings these institutions together under a unified platform to foster collaboration, exchange knowledge, and share best practices in healthcare delivery, education, and research.

Most importantly, KHUAM serves as an official channel for communication and cooperation among its members. Through this consortium, university hospitals can work collectively to address challenges, improve services, and elevate the standards of healthcare and medical education across Malaysia. In a time where the global healthcare environment is increasingly complex and competitive, KHUAM plays a vital role in ensuring that Malaysian university hospitals are well-prepared and forward-thinking.
